Well 99 is the number.

Not the number of problems I donno who normally has or the number of dots up there (though I think that might be correct)…rather the number of days I’ve been away.

99 whole days! I duly apologize.

But where to begin? Well I am not quite sure, so I’ll do this…I’ll talk about dots first, then we’ll get back to me filling you in with all the details…I promise.

Now do you remember those activities we used to be given in nursery school, the ones for joining the numbered dots then to your amazing delight it turned out to be an elephant, an airplane or some weird looking shoe………………Yeah, I see you smiling in reminiscence! 🙂

Well, I’m learning that like those numbered dots, such is life, only in life, they’re are more often than not connected from back to front.

John 2:22 is an interesting Bible verse for a number of  reasons.

Firstly because it’s part of the Gospel of St John which we know is written quite differently from the other Gospels and secondly because it’s a verse that delineates what happens at the end of the book through the use of prolepsis (a flash forward)…cool, right?

Let’s have a look.

John 2:22;

After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.

Some back story;

Jesus had just seriously cleared the temple courts and demanded that the traders stop making His Father’s house a den of thieves. The Jews present demanded a sign to prove His authority to do so and He responded by saying “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.” So the Jews were like, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” This they said not knowing that the temple He was speaking of was His body.

It is through this incident that some 20 chapters later the disciples recalled what Jesus had said…yes, they connected the dots! It probably didn’t make sense at all when Jesus got rejected, humiliated, whipped and crucified or when the three days after His death all looked bleak…but on that third day, the dots were connected!

So life has been happening since I last wrote!

I definitely wouldn’t want to bore you with the details, but I will say that it has all been quite something! From getting Alive in Me nominated for an award, to going way out of my comfort zone and doing crazy things like zip-lining and high rope activities…from graduating from Uni and being well into the path of being an FFA to experiencing beautiful locations in our country with equally beautiful people. It was also quite something when I faced loss, confusion and some sort of quarter-life crisis and when I had to let go of certain people and things and the bouts of insecurity and feelings of failure in all levels imagined…yeah, quite something!

But you know what, all of them crazy, beautiful experiences were lessons, beautiful lessons crafted by my creator to help me and maybe a couple of you guys learn a couple of lessons here and there….For you see every single thing you learn gives you new dots, then slowly by slowly, In God’s Graceful wisdom you connect them.

I only recently (through the prayers and wisdom of a dear friend) connected the dots of my origin, family and the destiny intertwined in it all. Not knowing why I was born and in my family specifically was something I battled with for thee longest time but the dots got connected and still are getting connected in many ways, slowly well revealing my purpose and walk in this lifetime. And then there is this time when God painfully but lovingly helped me connect the dots on the reasons why some people were in my life for only a season, revealing the reason as well…yeah.

John Piper often says that there is nothing that can touch us except that which has been carefully filtered through God’s loving fingers. Yes, nothing, whether big or small…nothing touches you without being carefully filtered through our Father’s loving fingers and whether or not you understand it then, this remains true. What we need to often do however is pray that His ageless wisdom will help us connect the dots of the timeless lessons He gives us everyday at the right time.

Some dots are connected within a matter of seconds, others are connected years later while others will be connected in eternity in the Holy presence of Jehovah, but what keeps us going as believers is knowing that Jesus is always doing good by us and He is intentional with every single thing He does.

So, whether you are stuck in a job you don’t really like, or struggling with the pain of loss or heartbreak, or whether like me you’re trying to figure and live out God’s purpose for your life and bracing the strides that keep up with it all, keep that chin up, brave up those lessons and know that eventually in God’s infinite wisdom, the dots will be connected. You’ll see!

Learning gives you new dots; Wisdom connects them.

Blessings! Xo
